Each resident has a story to tell
Trips to the Moors, listening (and often dancing) to various kinds of music, a midsummer stroll through the park – our nostalgic displays and themed areas prompt warming memories from the past. We have also displayed residents’ own personal photographs and items in special memory boxes to inspire meaningful conversation with carers and visitors alike.
Colour is key.
Looking down the hallway, you will see that each resident has their own individually painted door of varying rainbow colours – helping to create a feeling of ownership, as well as assisting in orientation.
We know that people who have dementia can struggle with seeing colours; differentiating between the walls and floor, which can be a trip hazard. We purposefully chose brightly coloured paints and patterned wallpapers to ensure both the safety and mental stimulation of our residents.

Devon freshness.
If there is one thing that you can count on in Devon, it’s that we have some of the best produce in the UK. Our chef understands the importance of a rich and varied menu and plan menus to excite and encourage a good appetite. These include alcoholic and nonalcoholic options for drinks every day. Residents are actively involved in the growing, cooking and cleaning up of meals.

Each of our living areas in Wren House and Robin House have open kitchenettes to encourage residents and staff to make teas and coffees – just like home. We don’t have tea trolleys as these are what you have in hospitals. We do have confectionary stands, so snacks are always available – a must, if you ask us!
Enjoying the outdoors
West View Care Home boasts large, spacious and mature grounds with sensitively considered seating areas, sun canopies and shades and a summerhouse to enjoy. Raised beds allow residents to engage in planting and tending to flowers and vegetables. Residents can often be found enjoying table tennis or cuddling our guinea pigs in the garden.
By combining our extensive experience in care with the latest in research, we have created the most comfortable, thoughtful and rewarding of homes. Read more about our forward-thinking approach to care.
